Hello everyone, I recently finished this book, and it was amazing! I cannot wait for the next one. I definitely recommend this book to everyone. It was a fast read and I really enjoyed it.
There are spoilers in the rest of this review!
First off I want to say that this book was a great way to start off the year. I found very little things that I disliked, so I will start by telling you those. The one problem I had with the book was that I did not really like the switches in points of view. I found that Cassie's chapters were more interesting than the others, at least that is what I thought. Also, at the beginning of the book, I found it hard to realize when the POVs changed. Other than that, I really loved the book. The whole concept of it was very interesting and unique. I think that Rick Yancey did a great job of keeping the plot moving, but still developing the characters well. I have heard a lot of people that have said they did not like the romance in this book. But for me, it did not seem fake, it felt very real to me. I think that Cassie's conflicting emotions toward Evan were realistic. I actually really like Cassie and Evan together, and hope that they end up together.
Another thing that I really liked about this novel was the characters. I felt like I could really connect with them and almost feel what they were going through. I loved the friendship between Ben and Sammy. I also really liked all of the characters that we were with at the army base. This book also had some great plot twists. The ending of this book was amazing. It left me hanging and really anticipating the next. I honestly think that Evan is alive. This is because it will leave room for a love triangle between Evan, Ben and Cassie. (Even thought I hate love triangles.) I don't think that this series needs a love triangle. This book already has so much going on. I hope that it will focus more on the action, and less on something like a love triangle. This book really kept me on the edge of my seat. I am hoping that the next book will live up to my expectations. What did you think of the book? I would love to hear what you have to say in the comments. Thanks!
